About FracCalc

FracCalc provides free online fraction calculators for students, teachers, and anyone who works with fractions. All tools run entirely in your browser — no data is sent to any server — and each calculator includes step-by-step explanations so you can understand the method, not just the answer.

What FracCalc Does

Fractions are one of the most fundamental areas of mathematics, and also one of the most commonly confusing. Whether you're adding fractions with different denominators, converting a decimal to a fraction, comparing a set of fractions, or simplifying a complex mixed number — FracCalc handles every scenario with exact arithmetic and clear explanations. We use precise GCD (Greatest Common Divisor) and LCD (Least Common Denominator) algorithms to always produce fully simplified results.

Who It's For

FracCalc is designed for elementary and middle school students learning fractions for the first time, high school students reviewing fraction concepts for standardized tests, teachers who need quick reference calculations or worked examples for class, parents helping their children with math homework, and anyone who encounters fractions in cooking, construction, sewing, or other practical contexts. All tools are completely free with no account required.

Our Calculators

  • Basic Fraction Calculators: Fraction calculator (add, subtract, multiply, divide), mixed number calculator, improper to mixed number converter, equivalent fractions generator, fraction simplifier (GCD-based reduction)
  • Fraction Converters: Fraction to decimal, decimal to fraction, fraction to percentage, percentage to fraction, ratio to fraction
  • Fraction Comparison: Compare fractions (which is larger?), order fractions (sort a list smallest to largest), find common denominator, fraction of a number calculator, fraction number line visualizer

How Our Tools Work

All FracCalc tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript and React. Fraction arithmetic uses exact integer arithmetic with GCD reduction — no floating-point approximation, so results are always exact. For example, 1/3 + 1/6 gives exactly 1/2, not 0.4999... The step-by-step explanations show each intermediate step so you can follow along and learn the method.

Accuracy & Methods

FracCalc uses the Euclidean algorithm for GCD computation, which guarantees fully reduced results. LCD calculations use the LCM formula (a×b/GCD(a,b)). All arithmetic follows standard fraction rules as taught in K-12 mathematics curricula worldwide. We test every calculator against known textbook examples and edge cases including zero numerators, whole numbers, and very large values.

Free to Use

All FracCalc tools are completely free — no registration, no subscription, no limits. Have a question or want to suggest a new tool? Email us at [email protected] or visit our contact page.
